This May ECHO II travelled to Kythnos Island. In the beautiful “Chora” of Kythnos, a 2-day event honoring the artistic creation of ECHO II and cultivating mindful communities took place.

Presentation of the local DryStone Walling craftsman

Printings of the artworks created during the ECHO II art residencies, were presented in the 1st Grade School in Chora. Visitors had an exhibition walkthrough and got to get a taste of the work of ECHO II.

Beyond that, Kythnos is also a place in transition and home to an impressive DryStone Walling tradition. Kythnos DryStone was presented through the eyes of a local drystone artisan, a folklorist, and an art historian. A lively conversation followed the presentation with locals expressing their fears and intentions for the preservation of the DryStone traditional art. The program closed on the second day with visits to the folklore museum and the healing spring baths.
