Language Policy
Inter Alia would like to follow similar policy guidelines to Europa (the portal site of The European Union), and to provide the public with the information they are looking for in more than one EU languages. However, due to constraints on resources, at the moment this isn’t possible. Therefore, Inter Alia has decided to communicate its projects, activities and services mainly in English (for being accessible by an international audience), and -in specific cases- in Greek (since Inter Alia is established in Athens and targets participants living in Greece).
Every text Inter Alia writes uses a similar style or tone of voice. This consistency helps people know and trust Inter Alia. Inter Alia tries to use short statements and active, not passive, language in order to provide the public with clear and straight to the point information about its projects, activities and services. Also, Inter Alia tries to keep it simple by linking to other pages (instead of repeating what is elsewhere), and by avoiding complex and unnecessary jargon. Also, Inter Alia never uses slung and insulting words and phrases, because it is important for Inter Alia to be polite, friendly and welcoming.
In the near future, Inter Alia will publish editorial guidelines for participants or users who want to contribute content and/or metadata for its website.
Accessibility Policy
Inter Alia’s aim is to design its website to be universally accessible by users and user agents/devices. Inter Alia would like to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, however, due to constraints on resources, at the moment this isn’t possible.
Currently, Inter Alia’s website uses the WP Accessibility plug-in which helps with a variety of common accessibility problems in WordPress themes, and adds some basic accessibility features, such as a toolbar toggling between high contrast, large print, and desaturated (grayscale) views of Inter Alia’s website theme. You can learn more about the WP Accessibility plug-in here.
If you have any feedback, questions or suggestions on how to improve the accessibility of the website, please contact Inter Alia by emailing info@interaliaproject.com.
