Boyka Boneva

Boyka is one of the three founding members of Inter Alia. She is responsible for monitoring and advising on the execution of all projects carried out by Inter Alia and their financial aspect. Boyka heads the organisation’s mobility department and coordinates the network in Europe and beyond. She is an international trainer in non-formal education and has worked in different European countries as well as in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She has co-authored and managed numerous projects in the fields of youth work, youth policy and youth empowerment. She is drawn by feminist theory and intersectionality and works on ways of applying the respective concepts in her work at Inter Alia. Boyka has specialized in European project management at CESIE, Palermo, Italy (2014-2015). In the past she has worked as a Research Fellow and Student Coordinator at the Institute of International Economic Relations (IIER) in Athens (2010-2014) while she has previously worked in the financial departments of different banks and companies in Greece and Bulgaria. Boyka holds a BA in Finance and Banking Management from the University of Piraeus (2007) and an MA in Southeast European Studies (2008) from the University of Athens. She is currently pursues a Master Programme in Gender Studies “Intersectionality and Change” at Linkoping University. Boyka is fluent in English, Greek, Bulgarian (native) and Italian, while she also speaks Russian and German.

Nikos Papakostas

Nikos is a political scientist and one of the partners and founders of Inter Alia. Working closely with the rest of Inter Alia team, he has authored, fund-raised and organised initiatives at local, national, European and international level mainly in the fields of political participation, education and youth work, cultural awareness and remembrance. He is the script writer and producer of short and long documentary movies and videos, most notably, “The Poor Cousin” (2017) and “The Land of Milk and Honey” (2019). In 2018, he led the production of the “Outcast Europe” international exhibition on memories of displacement and movement (www.outcasteurope.eu). He is co-editor of two cross-disciplinary collective volumes on contemporary European politics and societies while his research and policy analyses have been published in journals, books and magazines. Nikos coordinates a pan-European network of organisations active in the field of youth which, among others, advocates for changing funding allocation practices for civil society organisations by EU institutions and embracing a process-driven, change-inducing culture of civic initiative. Starting from 2020, he heads the production of the yearly “Positively Different Short Film Festival” (www.positively-different.net) focusing on intersecting stories and shared struggles of oppressed groups and individuals. He regularly participates in the development, planning and delivery of educational programmes, leads workshops and gives lectures to students and young learners, youth workers and project managers in the aforementioned fields. Nikos currently pursues a PhD on civil society studies at the department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese.

Nikos Pasamitros

Nikos is a founding member of Inter Alia. In 2005 he graduated from the Department of Political Science and History of the Panteion University, and in 2007 he completed his MA in International Conflict Analysis at the University of Kent in Brussels (BSIS). In 2021, he obtained his PhD from the Department of International, European and Regional Studies of the Panteion University and a MSc in Environmental Sciences, specialising in Art and Environment, from the University of the Aegean. He has worked as a researcher for the Institute of International Economic Relations (IIER) and the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS). He has published articles in academic journals and collective volumes, edited two political science collective volumes published by Inter Alia, and is a reviewer at the Social Semiotics journal. He has a series of presentations at conferences on the analysis on intercommunal conflicts, identities in international politics, and cultural heritage use. Since 2013, within the framework of Inter Alia, he participates in the implementation of educational, civic and creative programs, and oversees the research activities of the organisation. In 2018-2019, he was the cultural heritage supervisor of the ECHO project and a text-writer of the ECHO creative documentary titled “Dark Vein”. From 2019 to 2022 he was the co-manager of the ECHO II project artistic activities. From 2022 on is the heritage supervisor of ECHO III: For Memory’s Sake.

Veroniki Krikoni

For over a decade, Veroniki has been developing and managing projects and activities in the cultural and creative sectors. She specialises in the fields of European integration with a geographical focus on the Balkan region. For her work she became co-recipient of the 2018 EESC Civil Society Award on Cultural Heritage. With over 10 years progressively responsible experience in project management and development she has led cross-functional teams, oversaw or delivered cross-national civil society projects and developed a variety of non-formal learning training courses. From 2012 she is also actively involved in composing, editing and submitting calls for proposals for EU Funded Programmes (Youth in Action Programmes, Creative Europe, Europe for Citizens, European Cultural Foundation, European Fund for the Balkans).

Veroniki has lived in Italy, Poland and the Netherlands and has travelled extensively in the Balkan Peninsula. As a volunteer herself she is co-founder of the regional organisation Balkans Beyond Borders contributing to the cultural diplomacy sector through the power of image and new media. The cinema has also been the vehicle of her inspiration and the main tool of her work on the Europeanisation process in relation to the construction of cultural identities and their visual representation.

She is holder of the Joint Masters of Arts on European Cultural Studies completed under the Erasmus Mundus Euroculture Programs and has completed a BA on International and European Studies.

Amerissa Giannouli

Amerissa Giannouli holds a B.Sc in Economics, specialized in Business Economics and Finance and a M.Sc in International and European Economic Studies, specialized in European Economic Policy from the Athens University of Economics and Business. She has worked as a researcher at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the International Center for Research on the Environment and the Economy focusing on socio-economic valuation methods, sustainable development and maritime spatial management. She has co-authored and published academic research with Cambridge University Press, Edward Elgar Publishing, Springer, Frontiers and IGI Global. She has been a certified trainer for adults of non-formal education since 2016. She has created, coordinated and facilitated a variety of non-formal activities in Greece and beyond. Amerissa has experience in project writing, project management and implementation. Research interests include radical political economy, political ecology, commons and social participation. She is currently enrolled in the online master’s programme on Degrowth: Ecology, Economy and Policy offered by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Research & Degrowth academic association dedicated to research, training, awareness raising and events organization around degrowth. Her master thesis is focused on urban participatory spatial planning focused on youth. With her work at Inter Alia, she aims at critical youth empowerment and socio-ecological transformation. She is the inspirer of STEP Forward project and Youth Pool. She also used to be a member of the Greek Working Group (2018-2019) for the EU Youth Dialogue.

Revekka Kefalea

Revekka works as project manager in Inter Alia since March 2019. She holds a BSc in Social Policy and Social Anthropology (Panteion University), a MSc in Urban and Regional Planning (NTUA), and a MSc in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Athens (Master’s thesis: National Museums and Cultural Heritage in Europe: Origins, Transformations and Challenges in the Era of Open Access). She is also certified in cultural management and social entrepreneurship, and follows the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) sector and its transformations closely, since her research interests focus on nationalism, material culture, cultural heritage, identity and memory politics. Last but not least, Revekka is actively involved in the open movement as a member of the Creative Commons Global Network, and advocates for the open access policy of both the organisation and its projects.

Margaret K. Chomatianou

Margaret K. lives and works in Athens. She is passionate about communication design and production management. She holds an MA in Arts, Culture & Festival Management from Queen Margaret University of Edinburgh and currently works towards her PhD thesis: Urban intelligence; smart cities, cultural mediation & lost connections. She has worked with various production companies, along with some internationally acclaimed institutions, including Edinburgh City of Literature and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST). Margaret K. supervises the production of Positively Different Short Film Festival and coordinates other public events of Inter Alia; she advises on issues of visual identity, copyrighting and promotion.

Elina Evangelopoulou

Elina is the Communications Officer of Inter Alia since 2022. She studied Mass Media & Communications at the University of Athens and holds an MSc in Media and Migration flows. Her research interests include migration, media and marketing. Her master’s thesis researched communication practices and strategies for civil society organisations. She was in Lesvos Island for over a year, actively fighting for the refugee rights. She is driven by solidarity and is inspired by diversity; she a person full of energy who wants to create something that may help someone else. Elina met Inter Alia in a workshop back to 2018 and from then on, she became a supporter of the work, hoping one day to work together… and she did!
