OPEN Education: Own the Potential of Environment in Non-formal Education

Erasmus+ KA1 Training Course4-11 April 2017 – Limassol, Cyprus By Revekka Kefalea and George Skitsos

In April 2017, we had the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ KA1 “OPEN Education” training course, which took place in Limassol, Cyprus. During the first three days of the training course, we engaged ourselves in various verbal and non-verbal communication activities in order to get to know the other participants from all around Europe, we presented our learning goals, we defined the concepts of training, teaching, coaching and facilitating and we identified ourselves as trainers. Also, we participated in various storytelling activities, in the context of which we explored the visual, auditory and kinaesthetic elements of communication, and we experimented with the four basic communication styles (controller, promoter, supporter, analyser).

Apart from taking part in sessions, we celebrated the cultural diversity of Europe (in the context of the Intercultural Dinner) and we visited Oleastro Olive Park and Omodos village, where we tasted local food and wine (in the context of the cultural excursion). Photographs by Jaime Flores
