As usual, the European Parliament reunited in plenary in December. What is unusual is that, for the first time, an institution tried to place reparations for slavery and colonialism on the EU agenda. The COP28 took place in the United Arab Emirates ending with what the general opinion acclaimed as a great victory. Is it though? EU Member States and the European Parliament have been rushing, before the end of the year, to conclude negotiations on new EU rules on migration and asylum.
